you could limit revs to prefend high rpm and high fuel use.

this seems pretty cool, but I'd probably not do it just so I can fast and furious when I am bored. :P
if I get this car if I ever pull up to a evolution I'm going to rev and burn out.

Ecuflash to improve the fuel economy and or to add forced induction would be the real benefit. Getting the Rom off the car will be the first thing i attempt when i get mine home here in the near future. =)

3.5k is a rather low rev limit though. I occasionally use the 4k range for overtaking on two-lane rural roads.

Near future, huh?
Agreed - 3.5k is too low. I'd say anything less than redline is too low, and this is Mr. Fuel Economy talking. I rarely go past 4k myself, but I'd never artificially limit it for safety reasons (and possibly fun reasons).
Besides, how you accelerate isn't as important as most people think for fuel savings. It's what you do with your hard-earned momentum after you've accelerated that matters most. (I.E. don't convert your fuel into brake dust.)

^ True.
But there's two rev limits on Mitsubishi's and most cars for that matter. You have the stationary limit and the momentum limit. In most cases they are set to the same or similar numbers but the stationary limit can sometimes be lowered down and used as a two step launch control limit for racing purposes. =)

Thanks -didn't know that (about two different limits).
That's two new things I've learned today! My head hurts.

oh wow confusing but since I get bored often I usually rev up to red lines often

Now this will be very useful if we can do a retune say for playing around with air fuel ratio's and ignition timing etc.Ecuflash to improve the fuel economy
