I think the trade in value is something like $300. If I were to sell it, I'd probably keep the wheels and aftermarket cruise control. Of course, that's only a possibility if replacing the clutch doesn't fix my problem.
Tax season is a sellers dream when selling a cheap car. I once sold a 2001 Saturn for something like $1,500 during income tax time. I got 20 calls the first day, sold the car that evening, and my phone still rang a dozen or so times a day for the next two days.
I've never understood the whole tax refund mentality. It means you were dumb enough to loan the government your money for a year at 0% interest. My goal is to pay as little income tax during the year, and to make a lump sum payment come tax season.
Thats the end of my pointless rant. Sorry boys and girls.

I agree about tax season but this year was garbage for that (I normally try to have a few things to go during that time) especially thanks to the current situation in the world right now. But... I guess next year I'll have more stuff to sell haha.

No updates other than I've been busy and am still driving the thing around. The car just hit 298,000 miles. I figure, I might as well put it off another 2,000 miles just so I can say I got 300,000 miles out of the clutch.

Keep going - limp it to 310686 miles and then you can say it went half a million kilometers on that clutch.

I am not sure Americans are worried about setting metric goals!
I made a prediction a little more than a year ago that I thought Steve would make 300,000 miles on his original clutch. Post #148
https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...-entry)/page15
Reading through the "cheap plastic car" posts - Steve was changing cheap headlight bulbs quite often!
It will be interesting to see the condition of the original clutch. Maybe Steve could mail it to Darin, and Darin could put in his next Mirage & try to get an extra 10,000 miles out of it?
Haha.
The only cars I'm used to seeing regularly with half a million km on them are diesel VW Golf & Jettas.
