    oil

Since you seem to be racking up the miles on your cheap plastic car without having any major issues, I was wondering what type of oil (brand & type) & oil filter you have been using?

Are you doing 7,500 oil change intervals, more, or less?

You may have mentioned it at some point, but I may have missed it.

Appreciate everything you have been sharing with us!

I have no clue. I get free oil changes at the dealership so I just keep going back when the sticker tells me to.

In the end, it probably doesn't matter. If you keep up on your maintenance, any good quality oil & filter is going to do the job. I was just curious. You have gone where most of us haven't in the mileage department. Guys like you probably make dealerships reconsider lifetime free oil changes.

    214,068 miles

Getting another free oil change this morning. I asked the person who took in my car what weight oil they use on my car. She simply said whatever the oil cap says to use.

If she is correct, that means I am getting synthetic every 5,000 miles providing they are using 0w20. As far as I know, that only comes in synthetic.

The oil change reminder sticker on my winshield says Mobile 1 on it. It has no mention of viscosity or whether or not to use synthetic or conventional.

I was under the impression that there are 0w-20 blends, but yeah. It has no choice but to be good quality oil.

Looks like I've been getting 5w30, probably conventional.

Fine by me. It's a thicker weight oil and less likely to leak.

The fuel filter part # 25014568 on the invoice is an AC Delco filter.

I'll get under the car later today to see if that is what's actually on the car.

Not to feed the fires of “viscosity wars” but the viscosity of 5w-30 at 100C is much higher than 0w-20. With 214,000+ miles (344,000+ Km) I think it’s safe to say that running 5w-30 is perfectly fine. I run 5w-30 because the viscosity values of 0w-20 at higher temps is so low I can’t help but wonder if there aren’t some long term issues. Plus after I switched to 5w-30 it eliminated the valvetrain “sewing machine” noise.
