Just ordered one of those Chinese armrests everyone keeps posting for $22 and free shipping from aliexpress. People were listing them for $50+ on ebay/amazon and it's not worth it. Might take a few weeks to come in. The elbow buddy looks like a good idea.

This is how mine looks at only 18,000 miles: I dont recommend them
I think I may take some sandpaper or a brass brush and scratch off the remaining PU leather spots and then it will be a flat grey color.
If Alexandria Ocasio Cortez wants something to complain about they should make PU leather illegal. Because PU leather furniture ends up in a landfill in less than 1 year.
PU leather is one of the most overt and flagrant forms of "planned obsolescence" ever invented. Its engineered to flake off inside of 2 years by design
Here is a photo of my office chair. Also made of PU leather. Here is how it looks in 3 years. Came from local Office Max for $75 I believe:
I recommend everyone to stop buying PU leather and then they will be forced to stop making this garbage furniture

With the $2 coupon it brings it down to $22. I figure if you combine it with something like the elbow buddy it will raise it up a bit and protect it from the wear.

I had to look up "PU leather" because I've never heard of it...
PU leather is an artificial leather material made with split leather (that's the fibrous part of the hide left over from making genuine leather) which has been coated with polyurethane (hence the name “PU”), and then applied to the surface of the furniture.

Looks like a case of you get what you pay for. I got a free pleather couch one time that was starting to crack. Found out everytime you sit on it half the couch parts of it attached to you. It took a few beers to figure out what the hell all these black flakes were tracked all over the house.
