    howdy from philippines

hey guys, texas expat here originally from the dallas area.
first of all i want to tell you that the mirage is one of the most popular and respected cars around here. it was voted car of the year for 2014. not best small car but car of the year. period. (of course the same year kenny rodgers was voted best performing rock singer)!
it comes in glx (base model) and gls (alloys, gps, rear spoiler etc).
i bought me a 2014 gls cvt that now has 40k kilometers on it, i think that's about 26k miles (i use my scooter for everyday errands due to the unimaginable traffic congestion). i never had a problem with it but recently i noticed a noise like grinding when i push the start button. it lasts for about 2 secs but then the car starts fine.
mechanics here are the same as back home, all crooked. dealer, forget about it. add the fact that every foreigner here is perceived wealthy and you can imagine the scenario. has anyone else had this problem? flywheel maybe? i would sure appreciate any kind of help.

    thanks a bunch

Thanks for the introduction. Make an entry in our Garage and include some pictures when you are able.

Yes...multiple owners of 2014 Mirages have had this issue. If you're lucky, a new starter will correct the issue. If the flexplate/flywheel has been damaged by the starter, then you may need to replace that as well.
