Post problem with after market head unit installation

ok am i missing something here? i want to replace the factory head unit touch screen gps with an after market one. now i have been researching on ebay and have visited some stores here in the philippines and all of them are 7" wide while the oem is 8". that leaves a full inch gap. the height is ok. only the width. what do i do? anyone else had this problem?

Yea I swapped out my factory head unit for my Pioneer 2440 NEX and bought the Metra kit and it won’t work for my 18’ G4. The Metra kit is for pre 17’/18’s? So I’m forced to keep the factory radio/vent trim piece and it leaves the same gap as yours on either side of the radio. I haven’t done it yet but I’m going to paint some card board pieces black to fill in the gaps until Metra comes out with an updated kit.

Why won't the Metra dash kit work on a 2017+ Mirage?

Oh...wait... Is it because the 2017+ dash trim is one piece while the earlier models it was 2? I guess I can see that being a problem based on the picture of the Metra kit below...

I’m going to go by a junk yard that has a 15’ Mirage and get the radio bezel/vent piece that is the 2 piece design and use my Metra kit that I already have. It should work I believe.

    oh man what a bummer.
i haven't bought anything yet and i won't if that's the way it's gonna be. the oem unit really sucks and can't install another. great.

Wait...why wouldn't this work? I saw a few variations of this trim online. Yeah...it's not $9.95...but it looks like it will solve the problem.

    No...it's meant for a double-DIN aftermarket installation.

Some dash trim pieces are not that expensive from Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, I can only find the 2017+ single-piece trim piece online...even when I say I want to see parts for a 2014?!?

wow that's nice. exactly what i need! i just don't think i could get something like that over here. the shipping would cost as much as the item itself even if available. nice to know though. thanks man
