I deleted the right-side mirror on a lightweight Miata project a few years back. Missed it more than I expected to! I fitted a wide-angle rear-view that made navigating traffic easy enough. Where I really missed it was for backing into the garage!

I tested a wide-angle rear view in the Mirage and found it fairly useless because you just get a fantastic view of the C-pillars!

(oh, and I'm a driving instructor, too... kinda strange that we're all congregated here)
    Simplify and add lightness.

Ha - mirror's gone off my Miata too.

You're right: backing into tight spaces is where I miss it most.

I've been meaning to get back to this project. Now that its starting to get warmer out hopefully I can find some time to finish it up.

I got a new blocking plate printed up and installed on the Mirage today. It fits up very nicely IMO. Here are some pictures.

Nice. Planning to install an interior convex mirror?

I'm not sure. We'll see. This is still a work in progress. Its not totally finished yet. After I get the fitment all set and where I like it, I'll move on to seeing if I need or want an interior mirror.
