    Hooray! From Oklahoma, USA

Posted this on the Google Search thread because relevant, but hi! I'm new.

Just a quick hello. I am taking delivery of my 2015 Mirage DE 5 Speed on August 1, and I'm super excited about it. I come to this with a 2007 5 speed 3 door Toyota Yaris that I sold thinking I'd never drive again since I'd moved to NYC (then I fell in love and moved back to Oklahoma) and then driving a 2000 Galant into the ground.

    What I didn't post there:

The Yaris was freedom from my previous marriage
My new husband is excited about my Mirage!

Can't wait to talk with everyone once I have the Infrared, 47K miles 5 speed in my clutches

Hello leogryffin and welcome to the forum.

You come across as just the sort of driver that would especially appreciate the Mirage design and construction. One question - have you taken one for a test drive?

So I took a test drive in the 2015 with CVT. My main assumption was that the car I'm buying - which I admit, I haven't actually looked at and can back out of - is similar, but with my preferred transmission. I'm not looking for performance - the steering was a little weird but not insurmountable - and my only comment after driving it was that I wasn't all that thrilled with the lack of center console (seems to be an aftermarket fix) and lack of cruise if I decide to use it for more than drives back and forth to town (again, seems like I can fix aftermarket).

Otherwise I was pleased and felt it was what I would want - but to be fair and clear, I have not driven my exact car yet.

    Any tips?

In what way? I found the 2014/15 weird because there is so little self-centering. You will get used to it, but it does require more steering input (output?? ) than other cars.

Thread: Do you find the "self-centering" of your Mirage's steering to be odd?

They corrected it with the 2017's and up (2016 model year was skipped) by programming the power steering motor to actively straighten the wheel:

    PS: welcome to the forum!

Hi again - and thanks. Yes, it was the feel of the wheel when it didn't self-center. That said, I suspect I'll be used to it immediately.

I am sure I will be around to learn as much as I can from you guys, this is a great community - in fact the camaraderie and info here had an influence on my decision to buy this particular car. Have a great day and thank you for the welcome!
