Mitsu has too short a history in North America, the market very well might be different overseas. Don't forget how many gens the Civic has been here

Huh? Mitsubishi has been selling cars in the US since 1971 (47 years).

Sure, I could import a set of KYBs from Malaysia. But that's going to be pricey.

But literally, no one offers a replacement shock for our Mirages in North America. After how many years on the market and 100,000 units sold, you're relegated to ultra-expensive, cheaply made OE shocks. That's crazy to me. And it's just the Mirage. KYB offers replacement shocks for 2014 Outlander Sport ... but not the 2014 Mirage.

And Mitsubishi has been in the U.S. as a stand-alone brand since 1982. That's longer than Hyundai, Kia—and yes, KYB also makes shocks for 2014 Rios.

I think you end up paying for the brand name, and if one of the threads here's true that only 5500 or so Mirages have sold so far this year in the U.S., not much is going to change. Supply and demand.

The rear wiper OEM for the Mirage is cheaply made, the motor in the car surely isn't - any way rear wiper retails almost 40$ Canadian or 35 USA dollars

Sorry but 2004 in Canada. USA is one of 3 countries in North America. Not sure if they even sell Mitsu in Mexico, except the Dodge Attitude 4 door Mirage clone car (opposite to the Colt!)

What thread? 19316 have sold through September and the demand and sales figures have increased every year it's been sold here since 2014.

There's no reason someone hasn't made an aftermarket for a shock yet. Other makes with less numbers have aftermarket available.

    There's no reason.
I hear your complaint, what forums are always good at showing, but what's your theory as to why?

I figure if nothing else with the current sales figure you present, and a monopoly on parts, Mitsu's Mirage division is laughing all the way to their bank

Only 5500 Eclipse Crosses have been sold here in 2018. About 2000-2500 Mirages are sold each month. When the time comes for me to get shocks...soon...I will just get them off of a wrecked, low-mile car.
