Unhappy Space star1.2 2014 excessive oil use

    Hello everybody.
I have a oil problem with my Space star 1.2 2014 mod. It use too much oil. 3 liters in 13 000 km!! Total km driven is
122 000 km. It use 0-20w. No leaks!

    Anyone with same problem?

Hello Roy and welcome to the forum.

We don't have many reports of high oil consumption here on this forum. I have a question for you - do your engine cylinders show good compression? If not, is it improved when a little oil is introduced in the cylinder? This can indicate cylinder wear. Excessive cylinder wear can contribute to what's often called blow-by. This, along with a compromised PCV can increase pressure in the crankcase, which could contribute to oil loss.

Just guessing. Remote troubleshooting has it's limitations. Any additional info you can provide can be helpful.

Wasn't there some kind of recall on the 2014's that had something to do with excess fueling when really cold... caused some kind of problem like this?

The problem didn't apply to my car, so I didn't pay too much attention to the details. It's discussed here on the forum, though.

I have to convert those values to US numbers so I can understand them.

3 liters is roughly 3 US quarts
13000 kilometers is about 8000 miles

So in US terms, you are using about 1 quart of oil every 2700 miles. While most of us aren't experiencing oil usage like that, it's really not excessive. If you were using 1 liter every 650 kilometers, then I would start worrying.

Make sure your PCV valve is working, and you might consider trying a slightly heavier weight oil at your next oil change. Maybe try 5W30 if that is available where you live.

Hi, thank you everyone! My car was empty for oil. Completely. No warninglights. The car must have lost 10-15% of its HP., and it make more noise than normal for that car.

Roy, PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation, part of a crankcase ventilation system. There is more information at the link.

Given your loss of oil and performance I'd say you should have a local mechanic diagnose your engine.

    Best wishes.
