    CVT stutters during acceleration

I've got a 2014 Mirage with 87K miles. Occasionally during acceleration the car starts stuttering pretty violently. It goes back and forth between accelerating and pausing. Sort of like a manual transmission when you pop the clutch too hard. About the only way to make it stop is to let off the gas and reaccelerate. It's always done this a little bit but it seems to be getting worse. It also seems to get worse after I've driven it awhile, although I wouldn't swear to that. I've been changing the cvt fluid every 30k but I've been using aftermarket fluid from a express oil change place. I'm going to change the fluid with the official stuff and see it that does anything. Otherwise I'm going to take to to the dealer.

Any ideas of what's happening? I'm assuming it's the transmission because it seems like the engine is running smoothly when this happens.

Original owner? Hopefully if so, they don't figure out you've used aftermarket.

Yes, I'm the original owner. Have you heard of this happening before?

Have you ever changed the spark plugs? Doesn't necessarily sound like a transmission problem. Just engine hesitation.
    Simplify and add lightness.

I believe the CVT has filters from what i've read on this forum. I would have the filters changed when you change out the fluid to OEM fluid.

I'm planning on doing that to, but I don't think that's the problem since the engine is not sputtering. Plus it's always done this, just not as badly.

Get the proper fluid into it. If that doesn't fix it, don't waste a lot of time hoping it gets better. Get it to the dealer so you can get the issue documented well before your 10/100,000 warranty runs out. If it's transmission related and they can't easily diagnose or repair it, they will just slap a new CVT in it. That's about a $5,000 repair at a dealer.

Anyone know how much CVT fluid it takes?

    There's a youtube video that says it's 2.64 qts

And there's an online owner's manual that says 7.4 qts.

What one is able to simply drain may vary from it's full capacity. A system flush can go through even more.
