    Rear Bumper Damage

Well the old lady really did it this time. I prevuiosly had to remove a couple door dings that she would get parking at WalMart, but this time she backed into a trailer and really messed up the rear bumper. I actually had to reattach it to the body since it was hanging. Looks like I will be searching for a new bumper skin. Thank goodness there was no damage to the body panels.....

Good thing it's only the bumper and nobody got hurt. The Space Peanut is pretty tough - the damage doesn't look that bad.

My elderly neighbor/widow (easily in her mid-80's) shared a story with me about her push mower last summer. Her husband had bought the mower on sale at Walmart for $99. They were very happy about the deal. After her husband put the new mower together, she had parked it behind his pickup truck. Later that day, he backed up over the new mower. It hadn't even been used yet.

Before he was able to say one word, she made one statement. She asked him if she was worth $99 to him. He hopped back in the truck, went back to Walmart, bought another new mower on sale, and never said a word about it. Sadly, that cheap second mower has long out lived her husband.

Your comment about "the old lady really did it this time" reminded me of that lovely story.

Sorry about your car. It's a bummer, but glad it isn't something worst!

I think a little heat in just the right places would pop those plastic dents right out. The rest is mostly scuff marks that will buff out. There would be some scratches left... but, is it a show car?

In other words, I wouldn't dream of spending money on a new bumper for that little damage.
    Simplify and add lightness.

When my Mirage was a little over a year old somebody backed into the passenger side rear door. It is a sickening feeling on a newer car.

I went online and found another door in the same color at a wrecking yard about two hours away from me. Paid over the phone, had it shipped up here. But they shipped me the DRIVER'S rear door instead. After a bit of prodding, I got them to send me the correct door...and I got to keep the one sent by mistake!

Bolted it on, and Scarlett was as good as new again. The Peanut will be right as rain in no time!

Glad that worked out. I have an unsightly dent I need to attend as well.

I figure we will run it out this winter and if it survives another brutal snow belt season, I will find a replacement for it.
