    Basic HELP!! Android auto

Ok. Someone hit me with the I am old and can't work this thing explanation as to how to get the Android thing working? Am I just supposed to be able to connect a USB and bam there it is? I installed the android Auto app on my phone (which is a nightmare) but it is on there and working, but how do I get my screen in my 2018 SE to work with my phone?
Also, how do I get the talk to my car and it dials my phone thing to work? Is that all through Android Auto as well?
Yikes. I think I have hit a wall with technology...
    Thanks in advance.

Have Android Auto installed, have bluetooth on and paired, and connect a USB cable connected (preferred length less than 3'.) The icon should then just pop up...

It didn't do that the last time I connected it, but I think I was having issues with the cable. I will try a new cable and go from there. I figured it should have been this easy
