Aftermarket cams are currently available and ready for order for 17000 baht. You can contact M’s Racing Cam’s Tuy Kratingdang using Line messaging app. I have been in touch with him for months trying to get my hands on the cams. He finally got them made after some problems with his machining equipment. Only thing that stopped me was that the engine has to be pulled out in order to swap the cams. But since yours is all disassembled it’s the perfect time to do it.

    Interesting.

Based on what I know now, I hope the cams come with stiffer valve springs!

But, I'm not rebuilding this engine. It's going away as a core.

Sucks to hear but cool pics and info.
The couple times I've mindlessly started to select the wrong gear, the car feels like a parachute just opened so it's very easy to reapply the clutch and grab the right gear, all before the clutch is even past half way out. I cant imagine allowing it to let out completely in this car. That guy must be pretty green.

To the guy who hit 116 in 4th, my lord what rpm was it at?

Interesting, I didn’t think it was the timing chain, it’s as thick as the stock one was on Ford’s 302. I had an 84 Crown Vic and even with the plastic upper cam gear it took to 99k miles to jump it. I had one of those high flow chrome air filters and I hammered on it all the time too. Thankfully those are non interference so I just took the chain off, lined the arrows back up and on went the new chain. Replaced the gaskets and started it right up. If it ever goes bad in my 83 grand marquis I’m putting on a double roller one.

Lol the mirage timing chain is about the size of my child's 12" huffy bike chain. It's not as big as a Ford 302 chain.

Not really they’re closer than you think.

Here is the standard single roller 302 chain

Maybe if you put a double or triple roller in it would be a different story.

Nearly ANY timing chain is better than a timing belt, as far as I am concerned.

Speaking of timing chains, has it been confirmed that the CVT mirages also have a timing chain?

All mirages have a timing chain.

If you guys want to see a completely over built chain to engine power ratio look up the 79-82 toyota pickup. 2.4L 4cyl with a standard issue dual row beast of a chain. Its massive, and those years had metal guides also.

I have had two of them.
