Loren, any chance you could post some pictures of the job?

I didn't exactly take any "procedural" photos. I took a bunch of reference photos at different parts of the project in case we have any questions about how to route this or that, and some "fun" photos.
They're all in the reference album:

Thanks. A big reason I wanted to see more pictures is the head gasket - there's been a couple of reported head gasket failures here. Looks like yours is holding up.
Can I have your permission to host your photos here on the forum? This is all good data for future reference - for those "where does this little part go" moments.

Yeah, do what you want with the photos.
The head gasket looks like a super-thin one-piece metal head gasket with integrated sealing rings.
Head bolts are super-tight, too! You need a T-50 Torx bit to remove them, and we used a 3-foot breaker bar. They were so tight that the first bolt we loosened by half a turn or so was fully tight again after we'd loosened all of the rest of the bolts!

Very good. They can be found on the forum in this photo album: Loren's Mirage Reference Photos

As pictured, 123.5 pounds.
Without the alternator, 113 pounds. Pretty darned light!

Loving all the info and pics Loren. Thanks!

Did you get the new engine yet? If so, when does it go in?
Obviously, any visible differences would be interesting to see.

New engine arrived yesterday. Should be going in on the 11th.
It really doesn't look any different. Why would it? The only changes they made were internal.
They did give me a complete engine minus coil packs, just like they promised. They did the quick and easy removal. Cut the wiring harness, cut all the hoses. So, I have a bunch of spare connectors for every sensor and spare hose clamps, etc.
