Thread: Abs light

    Abs light

Finally got my scanner updated. Brought in a car that's had the abs light on for a while now. Rh rear wheel sensor. Took a look and the wires were broken... 2 of the clips holding the wire in place were disintegrated and over time the combination of flopping around and 250k kms of gravel roads destroyed the wire. The drivers rear had a broken clip as well. Easy fix, 10mm bolt holds the sensor to the backing plate, a few 12mm holds the wire to the body, it unplugs under the rear seat. The lights went out on the dash without needing to clear them with the scanner.

Was the sensor hard to get out? I wondered if they might rust in place over time.

I'm curious what OBDII scanner you have that can read ABS codes?
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

The rear sensor isn't tight in the backing plate like they usually are in the front spindles. No worries about the rear sensor being hard to change.
I've got an Autel maxisys mini.

I have another car with an abs/traction light on. This time it's a 15' with 109k kms/68k miles. I'll check it out tomorrow morning, curious to see what the problem is. Seems a bit early to have abs wires wear through like the last car with twice the miles on it.

I stayed home yesterday and didn't get a chance to look at the car til just now. The abs and trac lights were off when I pulled it inside, I scanned it and found P1797(g sensor/Brake fluid PRS.sensor)P170E(ABS/ASC error information),P0703(brake switch) all stored. I was told this morning the car won't go over 50kph/30mph either.

K, here's what I found so far. When you have the ignition on the brake lights come on dim(including third brake light),When you turn the key off they stay on until you open the door. If you hit the brake pedal and they get brighter. The tail lights work as normal.
The scanner says the brake switch is on constantly so I'll start with that.
