Heater output? (considering getting a Mirage, but live in a cold climate)

Morning All, My 1st post & it comes as a question. I'm new to the Mirage world & I am actually going to road test a '18 GT today. Since I live in the beautiful Ottawa Valley in Ontario, it can be very cold in the winter. (I will be getting a block heater). Is the heat output adequate on these cars??? 2 winters ago we had a -38*C morning.I just need the car warm enough to keep me from shivering for my whole commute.
    Thanks Lots,
    Roger

Welcome to the forum! In previous model years there have been a few examples of unbalanced and weak heater output. It hasn’t been reported as a problem in the 2018’s. Normally, the heater works quite well but in really cold temps a grill block helps tremendously.

    Welcome to the forum, Roger!

Out of curiosity, how long is your commute?

I don't know how much you've been poking around the forum, but we've got more than a few of these cars running around in colder climates than the Ottawa Valley.

EG: one regular member is in Thunder Bay. Another maintains a delivery fleet of Mirages around Edmonton. And we've got members in Russian and around Scandinavia (some of whom drive the Mirage with the smaller 1.0L engine).

I had a very good road test in the 2018 GT that the dealer had in stock. I was really impressed. He just gave me the key, showed me the features, & told me to go for a good drive. I felt very comfortable in the car. I think I'm going to go for the GT as it has the most features & today was 0*c & with the heated seats etc, I was turning the heat down!!!! My daily commute is about 20 km 1 way. I kinda think this little car will work for me!!!

    Roger

Nice when a dealer gives you the chance for a real test drive.

And I've read several reviewers say the Mirage's heated seats are they warmest they've experienced.

    Keep us posted!

I'm thinking the Sunrise Orange. I've never seen one in the wild & the dealer said he will bring one i for me. It sure looks nice in the pics!!!

The Mirage has an electric PTC heater in the HVAC system that starts warming the interior of the car almost immediately. If you also plan to use a block heater then you should be set.

When I first got my '15 Mirage the heater was one of the hottest I had ever experienced.

100kms each way every day, and I can't recommend the heated seats enough! And we GUARANTEED get some -40C days each year.

Seated heats are the bomb. I have the Rostra heated seat kit in mine.
