If I were still competing, the rules I run under wouldn't allow me to remove a front seat. (rear seat is fair game) But, the car is retired from competition, so I'm not worried about saving weight that much any more.

The utility of a big open cargo area is nice, though. It's sort of like driving a mini 2-door, 2-seat SUV. That gets 45-50 mpg. And handles like it's on rails. And has good AC.

    Simplify and add lightness.

OK, thanks. So no info about a potential SRS fault from disconnecting the front seat.

A few people have posted about making mini-1-person-RV's out of their Mirages. You'd probably want to pull the front seat as well to put in a sleeping deck. I shall dig further.

EDIT - looks like the car will not be happy with the front seat out:

Yep. Also, the seat position and occupancy sensors will throw codes.

I've bypassed airbag with a dummy switch so my airbags would still be operative. Cheap on Amazon or Ebay.

That’s just a resistor. What about bypassing the occupancy sensor and module?

Both of my rear seats will be removed once my daughter reaches the legal age to ride in the front seat. I guess in a pinch a flexible person could ride in the back.

BTW, isn't the removal of federally mandated safety equipment an illegal act in any jurisdiction? I'm thinking the seat beat removal. I'd hate to be on a road trip in say Michigan and get stopped at a safety/RIDE type of deal and some gung-ho cop decides without a rear seat/seat belts my car isn't roadworthy and decides to impound it until it can be made "safe" again.
