The Mongol Rally: 10,000 miles in small cars

My buddy, Ian, ran the Mongol Rally in 2016. He and his crew used a 1971 Morris Minor as their vehicle of choice. You essentially have to do it in a vehicle with under 1.0-liters of displacement. Here's a link to the post and video about it. Great little seven-minute short film.

Which would you choose? Personally, I'm thinking early 1990s Mitsubishi Minicab. I suppose a Mirage with the 1.0 would qualify, too!

I've heard of the rally, but I didn't know about the 1.0 L rule.

I read an article about a bunch of guys from the UK going in an old Micra (which you could get there with a 1.0).

I wish I had the extra time and money to do something like that. Just buy a car off of ebay sight unseen, fly out and hope for the best?
