    Lightweight Speakers?

How's it going everyone? I'm a big weight reduction freak. Always been lol. Just out of curiosity, is there any speakers beside the factory lighter weight? I've weighed the factory and they come at 0.858 pounds each. Now I don't mind if the aftermarket are smaller. I've looked at the 4 inch Plye Marine speakers that also has blue LEDs. They weight in at 0.628 each. Just for curiosity. Sound, also not the biggest deal either. Thanks guys!

That is not a very smart thing to do and is illegal in many states, including where I live.

you could always get a set of bone conducting headphones. I have a set of these and they are amazing. Great sound and doesn’t block your hearing.

I just ordered a set of those! (I went with the "Air" version... figured I was spending stupid money, anyway... and the last headphones I bought, I'm still using 12 years later)

But, I don't want to have to wear headphones in the car. I suspect I'm a lot like OP in this regard. I want some music in the car. I like my BT connectivity for both music and phone calls. But, I don't necessarily nead 4+ speakers, I don't need ear-bleeding volume, and I don't need "audiophile" quality.

And I also like to cut weight out of the car where I can do so without negative side effects.

I don't know what they weigh, but Miata guys used to use 3.5" coaxial speakers in the headrests. Not a lot of low end response (especially in a headrest where they're stuck in something "soft" that absorbs a lot of that), but possibly lightweight.

A gread deal of the weight in a speaker is in the magnet. What's the lightest magnet technology? That would probably be the thing to pursue.
    Simplify and add lightness.

Rare earth magnets such as Neodymium are the common example.

The OEM speakers are really light weight, can't save much there.
If you want to reduce weight of the car, you could consider getting rid of the door coverings, the center console, the cladding, maybe the dash, do you need the rear seats..? What about the weight of driver and passengers? I weigh about 60KG...
