What is the "transfer oil" on the maintenance manual?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm following the maintenance guide for my 2015 mirage and it shows to change the Transfer Oil AND manual transmission oil at 60kmi. What is the transfer oil? Is transfer oil and manual transmission oil the same? The book displays it as two separate items...
    Thanks

The warranty manual is written to serve more Mitsubishi models than the Mirage. My guess is that refers to a transfer case.

What eggman said. I'm sure it says to change the rear diff fluid too and that might take a while to do.

Outlander--single speed transfer case, no low range

I feel like you asked a sincere question, but I am not sure you got a clear answer on this.

A transfer case would be found on an AWD or 4WD vehicle. Most modern AWD vehicles are front wheel drive primarily, but they also have a drive shaft that goes to the real axle. This drive shaft connects to the transfer case on the rear axle. This transfer case transmits power to the rear wheels.

Thus, an AWD vehicle like a Subaru Forester, Honda CRV, & Mitsubishi Outlander (Outlander Sport) are going to have a rear transfer case. If you drove a front-wheel-drive only Outlander Sport, your vehicle wouldn't have this added transfer case.

My 2000 Honda CRV (manual) AWD recommended changing the rear transfer case oil every 30,000 miles. It took about a quart.

A FWD car like the Mirage will not have a transfer case, because it is not AWD or 4WD. Engine oil & transmission oil are your only two concerns.
