Why is a new Mitsubishi CVT7 $5k dollars compared to a Nissan Versa only being $3k? In your opinion would Mitsubishi ever sell these for less after a few years go by?

Is that a viable repair option? So, after it fails, it doesn't trash anything else in the CVT??

Yeah, the input shaft is grooved where the bearing sits as well as the housing. I wouldn't replace just the bearing in any of the ones I've torn apart. The first 2 had metal everywhere. This latest one doesn't look too bad, it still drove ok but you could feel the input shaft seizing up ever so slightly. Like when a pilot bearing seizes to the input shaft of a transmission. I'll post pics on the thread I just started.

Maybe economy of scale? In 2018, 75 thousand Versas sold in the U.S. compared to 26 thousand Mirages. I know they are the same transmission, but I'm guessing the housings are not identical.
