    The proper way to remove that clip is to unscrew it. As the screw comes out you can easily pry it out. I have that same panel removal tool fummis shows, it works excellent. When I was into car audio I used it plenty.

    I've never taken the plastic panel off the mirage. No need.
    I cant fit my arm in from the top so I have to get the filter from the bottom though.
