Alright. Made it to grand forks today. Haven't used a tank yet but the dash tells me I'm getting 5.7l/100km. Not bad considering I've gained and lost a few dozen km of elevation and have been pulling 120km/h.

Oh... and the car weighs in at 2987lb. Yeah... that bad.

Tomorrow morning we hit the worst of, and finish off the Rockies, then find our zen state across the prairies. Weather is forecasted to be well above average, a bit above freezing.

All are doing well so far. Not fighting this broken forum to rotate a picture.

It's not just this forum that has problems with picture orientation and has more to do with 'smart' phone cameras and how it is held. Early digital cameras took pictures in landscape. Smartphones put orientation info into the picture being taken, but it doesn't always get used properly.

I found the way to hold my phone for posting properly oriented pictures and try to stick to that. It saves lots of time trying to rotate the pictures manually.

Cool pix you've posted though. Keep them coming.

Alright. We are in Medicine Hat. 2 tanks down, returning 6.0l/100 and 5.39l/100 respectively. Both tanks were through the Rocky Mountains. First tank had a few 8-9km stretches of full throttle in 3rd and 4th gears on hill climbs followed by heavy braking on the downhills. So, 6l is a remarkable figure.

Currently averaging a 4l tank through the prairies (100kmh tailwind for the first 250km, so far) I feel like 5.2 or 5.3 should be where I should be without zero or negative drag.

Photos are at it again. Not rotating it upside down so it posts right side up.

Is that Highway 1? I see it as the Trans-Canada Highway on my map.

Also, I'll bet there's not many other travelers out.

Nope, not too many on the roads.

Trans Canada is our go to this trip, however we have run the 3 (crows nest pass) for its length. Warmer, drier, calmer this time of year. Plus a beautiful route.

    Back on the 1 today!

Be careful riding the brakes too much on the long downhill sections. Do you have a manual? If so you should barely have to touch the brakes.

Like downshifting in these half baked engines does... anything at all. Haha.

Made it to Brandon Manitoba today. Did a 4.6l tank followed by a 6l, 140kmh tank. That one went... fast. Saskatchewan was a waste of half a day that I literally took nothing away from. So. Damned. Boring.

Nice to be riding along with you and the furry passengers! Is the cat usually on a string, or just when away from home?

I've also done the Crows nest route, and it's surprisingly different.

I don't mind Saskatchewan at all - Northern Ontario in an alley of planted forests was far more boring!
