I carefully drilled a hole through the firewall behind the glove box.

For some reason I recall there are two unused circuits on the fuse block, one of which should serve this purpose.

I saw that, the unused heated seat ciruit. Don't think that would provide power when car is off as stvevdmc was describing.

No, I don't think it was for unused seat heaters.

This is the easiest way to do it. I put this in my '92 Ford Explorer tonight for an aftermarket GPS unit. Ring terminal goes on a grounded bolt, fuse goes into a position in the fuse box with switched 12v power (or unswitched if you prefer), GPS/camera plugs into lighter socket. The whole thing tucks up under the dash, and you route the cord wherever it needs to go. I grounded this with one of the bolts for the parking brake pedal and put it in the fuse box circuit for the blower motor.

No drilling, no splicing, no cutting. Couldn't be easier, and it is quickly and easily reversible. The lighter socket and Add-A-Circuit can be purchased at any auto parts store. Then all you need is the appropriate amperage fuse for whatever you are powering and a ring terminal (or just loop the wire if you want to be ghetto).
