Canada: 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES Road Test (CarCostCanada.com)
Writer Simon Hill has a bit of fun with this review from the opening line: "In the economical spirit of the Mirage, I'm going to try to keep this review brief." From there, he offers a thorough & well balanced review.
Also got a kick out of his imagery of setting off the car's 7 airbags in a crash: "this means it will pretty much inflate like the Mars Rover lander if you actually hit anything."
Liked:
- "surprisingly comfortable" seats
- reasonable acceleration in the city
- distinct engine note, if a bit coarse
- tight turning circle
- light handling
- bright colours
- lots of interior room despite small outside dimensions
Disliked:
- accel to full highway speeds "liesurely"
- "gawky" styling
- missed bluetooth & power locks on the base car
- going up to the top trim car & "convenience package" brings pricing close to arguably more desireable cars
- top trim may not be the best value
Overall:
...in base trim the Mitsubishi is certainly setting a price benchmark, and it's a lot more car than I can describe in 170 words. And that makes it worth a look.
