Mirage has developed a low end rattle.

I'll keep you all updated if it warms up and I can take a look.

1300-2500rpm at heavy throttle or load, brutal raspy rattle from the backend somewhere. It is 100% a vibration but not sure what's up. Its 20 below so it can wait.

    Any guesses?

Does this noise occur during warmup or at full operating temperature?

    Gotta be exhaust.

If it's snowy, or has been snowy, or you've driven through mud and dirt... could just be something built up under the car and making contact with the exhaust.

Or a bent heat shield. Or a broken/loose rubber exhaust hanger.

Just gotta get under there and look. I have trouble getting motivated to get under the car when it's 70 degrees.
    Simplify and add lightness.

Ooh, that's a good point. A hard & loose exhaust hanger drove another forum member nuts not that long ago.

Unacceptable vibration/rattle @ 13,000 km SOLVED: loose exhaust hanger

    Also Canadian.

Lying in a cushy blanket of fresh powdery snow beats lying on hot asphalt.

Loren wins. Bent heat shield rattling against muffler. Going in to be removed next week. Will reinstall come spring.

Awesome. I'm glad it was nothing major.

Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block
