    Attrage from Austria

    Well, hello there.

First things first, sorry for my english, its not my native language.

My Name is Thomas or Inter, 32 years old and i live near Graz in Austria.
The Austria with the Alps in Europe

Well, my 05 Ford Mondeo has now 281.000 km ( 175.000 miles ) and is starting to get old.
So i looked around for a new Car. I had many japanese Cars over the years: Some Toyotas, Nissan
Daihatsu, Honda, Subaru and a Lexus. But i never had a Mitsubishi.

And Austria is one of a few european countrys where you can get an Attrage.
So i was looking around for a used one. Then i found a Winered P57 in Lower Austria.

It is a November 2018 Model with 1200 Kilometers ( 750 miles ) on the clock.
I bought it for 10.300 Euro ( 11.750 USD ). Its an Intense Model with Bluetooth Radio, Keyless Go,
heated seats, Cruise Control, AC and Fog Lamps

I can get it next week, so iÂīm really happy now.

Greetings to all Members in this Great Forum.

Welcome to the site. Congrats on the new wheels.

What made you choose the Attrage?

    BTW, your English is great.

It looks cool ( in my opinion ) and its rare here in my Country. I only saw them at the Dealerships.
Its a great Car for that amount of Money. Cheap to insure, with good gas milage. Also 5 Year / 100.000 Kilometer Waranty

I looked into a VW Polo or a Skoda Fabia ( i work for a Skoda Dealership ) and even with my employee discount these cars are around 15.000-18.000 Euro.

    Welcome, Thomas!

The Austria with the Alps in Europe
    funny.

Did you get the chance to test drive the Attrage? Impressions? I imagine it's very different from most small European cars.

    Glad to have you here.

    Darin

Yes, i actually drove the Wine Red one that i bought for around 45 minutes.

As i said, i work for a VW/Audi/Skoda Dealer, and a Polo, Fabia or an A1 are driving more refined.
    But i dont want a massivly overpriced Sub-Compact like the A1 ( around 30k Euro - 34k USD )

And the Attrage/Space Star dont drive less good than a Premiun Sub-Compact. At least in my opinion.
    Maybe iīm a little bit biased. I had a 99 Micra K11 Diesel (57 hp), a 01 Daihatsu YRV (87 hp) and a 83 Subaru Rex (37 hp).
So for me, an Attrage or Space Star drives pretty nice.

What do you think of the VW Up? It's not sold in Canada/US.

All the reviews against the Mirage that I saw preferred the Up.

I wouldn't mind test-driving an Up. That would be another model I would consider.

I drove a couple of UPs and its derivats, the Skoda Citigo and the Seat Mii.

Fun little Cars in my opinion, the Skoda and Seat are a little bit louder, the UP has
more insolation and feels a little more refined. The electric Up is really fun to drive,
    but way to expensive ( 29.000 EUro - 33.000 USD ).

The UP GTI with the 115 hp turbo engine is really fun to drive and with
    17.000 Euro ( 19.500 USD ) not too expensive.
These cars have a relativly wide trackwidth wich makes them nice driving cars.
Standart Tires are 165/70R14 with upgrades too 175/65R14, 185/55R15, 185/50R16
    or the GTI with 195/40R17.

But the GTI weights 1070 kilos ( 2360 pound ). The nacked Versions with the small
60 hp Engines weight around 950 kilos ( 2100 pound ). The 60 and 75 hp engines are
peppy but not actually quick. Great City Cars with good gas mileage as long as they
dont need Highway Speeds. They normally need around 5 liter gas on 100 kilometer ( 47 mpg )
but are starting to drink a little more at highway speeds ( 130 kmh / 80 mph ) up too
    6,5 Liter ( 36 mpg ) and above 130 kmh they are getting really thirsty at 8 liter ( 29 mpg ).

    I hope that helps.

I'd like to chime in on that. I returned a rented Up back to the rental company from work. During the half hour drive, I could not find any bearable position for the seat back of the drivers seat, just backache. Never looked at one again. although technically they are supposed to be good.
We have plenty of similar size cars to choose from in Europe, and several much smaller ones too! For example the Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 /Toyota Aygo; Fiat Seicento, Kia Picanto, etc., etc. And you know what - they are realistically all big enough for the average family.

Interessting, i drove a couple of them but never had issues. But you are right, the market for little cars is huge here in Europe.
