This car is so locked down we can't even manage TPMS, much less an ECU.

Amen. I'd be happy just to be able to fix TPMS myself. On my next tire purchase I'm going to buy four new sensors, document the numbers on them, and have to visit the dealership just to get those numbers programmed in the ECU. Thats pretty freaking locked down if you ask me.

I haven't been sufficiently concerned with these initiatives to get much involved but I can relate to the interest.

I get the impression that the Mirage electronic controls is a next-step departure (evolution?) from Mitsubishi's previous designs. That is, this ain't no Lancer. Otherwise this wouldn't still be a question today.

There's no doubt that the Mirage does share some elements (ETACS) with the rest of Mitsubishi's line.

When I got the cams I asked Tuy Krating if he knows of anyone who can flash the stock ecu.
He gave me a contact of his in Thailand of course called Mr Oat.
I have yet to contact the person and not sure if he is able to speak in English or not.
If anyone is interested I can post his contact here.

Since all we really need is a definition file, does anyone know if the Mirage ECU model is shared with another Mitsubishi (or even other brand)? The definition might already exist somewhere. I've Googled the numbers from pictures of the ECU itself but all I can find is parts listings (the ECU looks pretty cheap to replace).

I'm under the impression that the Mitsubishi Mirage ECU is a Bosch unit. I say this because I'm pretty sure the MUT-III programmer is Bosch, and some other evidence (I can't remember now...)

Of course I could be way off here.

Hi, my 2017 Mirage SE cranks over but won't start. It has no spark to the plugs and after trying as suggested by Mitsubishi Dealer Service Tech's with them saying it's everything from the Key Fob battery going completely dead causing the ECU not to recondize the Fob code preventing the ECU from sending a spark pulse, to Rats eating wires.
I have ran out of solutions and about to take a shot that the ECU / PCM needs to be re-flashed.
I have heard of this tool called a J2534 Pass thru Device and a Flash 2 reprogramer by Cardon tools. My question is, one will I be able to obtain the correct OEM flash program that is suppose to be on the ECU Chips and two will this device and the software for flashing the ECU have the ability to program the Key Fob broadcast codes into the ECU along with the Cruse control and any other features not on the basic models like my Rockford Fosgate sound system?

Jim, I strongly doubt that reprogramming your ECU will get your Mirage to run again, and that this will be a waste of both time and money.

Troubleshooting over the internet is tough, like a doctor won't give a diagnosis over the phone. I'm sorry we haven't able to get your Mirage running again. We don't see many problems like yours. This likely explains the advice the Mitsubishi techs have given you - unless you bring it in to let them take a look at it, they really don't know what's causing your problem.

I assumed if your car wasn't reading the key there would be a light on the cluster? I've given a few suggestions on a different thread already. And you don't post whether you tried any of them or not. I've yet to see an ecm just crap out while driving on one of these cars but it's still possible. Doubtful though. I haven't seen an engine fail either mind you. My guess is wiring problem. Broken wire or corroded connector somewhere. Good luck...

Dealers just call tech line and do what they are told to do, at least thats what I'm told by our dealer when they have not idea wtf is wrong. Though rumor has it some are actually mfg trained specialists.
