    Mirage pickup truck

    Hello all,

The current small truck offerings are NOT small at all.
Mitsubishi should build a pickup, 6 1/2 foot bed, on the Mirage platform.
    Yes, front wheel drive.
    No Brainer
    Please with a 6spd(double overdrive).
Most little trucks spend 75% or more of the time running empty(a guess).
Front wheel drive would provide excellent traction except for times when the truck is heavily laden.
Also, a lightweight factory camper top offering that would offer a low CD to help maintain the Mirage's fuel economy.
Oh, factory trailer hitch and tow rating of at least 600 pounds.
    No four door.
    No extended cab.
    Yes, a telescopic steering column.
Room for 6 foot 2'' tall person.

The Mitsu L200 is too big.

I'm with you, but I doubt we'll see them imported here.

Not sure if this is what you meant. Actually I know this is not what you meant, but you reminded me of it.

Fwd and 600lb tow rating would never sell in any amount to even the most die hard mini truck buyer. Very least rwd and would need to tow 2k

What about a transit/nv200 kinda van with the back half of the roof chopped off. The nv200 is allegedly able to tow 6900lbs? I think that rating might be a little off lol https://www.swopenissan.com/research...-compact-cargo

Edit: scratch that, I don't know if the 200's are even rated to tow, the 6900 was for the nv2500 probably

As a former Fox body Mustang owner, that thing looks strange. On the other hand, it would be cool with a 5.0 and 5-speed...

They get all kinds of cool stuff down there. I'd take a holden ute with supercharged 6.2l and a 6 spd. https://www.carbazaar.com.au/2015-ho...lity-7451.html

    Hello Pryme,

    I disagree.
The first Japanese trucks in the American market sold like hotcakes, which in turn, caused the introduction of mini trucks from the American car makers. That was with 2wd trucks only. Toyota did not introduce a 4wd in the States until 1979.
If Mitsu marketed the truck as economy, low price($10k) truck, they would take the market.
The pickup truck, IS, the biggest body style vehicle sold world wide.
Nobody, and I mean nobody could touch that price, or mileage, or features(2019 Mirage ES stock features).
What is better than a high mileage getting commuter car....a high mileage getter pickup truck.
Just like going retro with the Mirage philosophy of light weight, small engine, low price....a retro pickup would kill in America.

All that sounds good, but in the end we don't see them around anymore. Too bad - I had an old Datsun pickup.
