Polar Vortex and your Mirage's cold start- up night time

3 days of very cold start ups in southern Ontario during this polar vortex, and the car made it. The heat in the car was not great.

I would expect you have a total grill block?

My only issue was the driver-side windows fogging and frosting. It took longer for the car to get warm, but eventually it was nice an toasty.

This was with temperatures between -13F/-25C and 2F/-16.7 C.

Good to hear the car is doing OK.
Sounds like you are having the kind of weather we used to have in these parts years ago, but nowadays winter is like down to 0°C at the most, and summer +40°C for months. So much to the climate.

The OEM battery in my 2015 struggled to start my car when I left work the other day (0F). My car is garaged so this is the coldest start it's ever had to do. I don't think my car would start if it was -20F. I will definitely be replacing this battery before next winter.

I haven't touched a thing on the car, everything is original.

Mine took a few tries to turn over when it dipped so low the past couple days, but it's still the '14 battery in my car, maybe I have been lucky with it.

Nice and toasty eh? I wish haha I haven't found the heat to be that great in my Mirage, but the temps were really really low...

My trans may be shot, but at least my car still starts! Original battery and after two days of -35C (-31 F) or so sitting at my work parking lot, she fired right up!

Sounds like you might have a heater core issue.
