    2012 Power Steering Fluid.

    Hey folks.

I require some guidance & Guru advice.

So i took the car down to my dealer today to ask about the 50,000km service. My Thai is not perfect but i can get by well. Usual things. Change oil & check this ect. So i ask the guy about changing the power steering fluid. He said "no Need"

I'm sure i read somewhere. That it should be changed at X km or 5 years. Whichever comes first? Maybe i'm wrong. Steering is fine ofcourse. No unusual noise. But i have OCD when it comes to servicing.

Sorry for the noob question. Been a bike guy all my life. The mirage is only the second car i've owned Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend all.

    Kind regards,

    Midge.

Mirage has electric power steering, not hydraulic.

This generation Mirage does not use hydraulic assist power steering - it is electric assist. There is no power steering fluid to change.

Hey midgeinc look closer at the Mirage electric assist power steering - I think it's a pretty slick bit of technology. Now would be a good time to learn more about your car and how it works.

There's some threads around here discussing this - somewhere...

And don't go away thinking you are the only one who thought of this.

If you are curious about the differences, I feel this clip does a nice job of explaining the differences between hydraulic & electric power steering. It also explains why car companies have gone this directions on cars.

No one should ever feel dumb asking questions. Dumb people are those who pretend to know everything!
