Check if the waterpump pulley is eating into the engine block.

Well took off the belt yesterday and it seems the a/c compressor pulley is making the noise. Quote to replace it is 1500 so ill most likely be donating the car to charity
Have you considered getting a used compressor from a junkyard? I'm not sure that would cost nearly $1500, and might keep it on the road.

One question - did you ever turn off the Automatic AC control, or was your AC compressor running every time you ran your Mirage?

Exactly car-part.com and Ebay have them for around $100.

Wow, I'll pay shipping if you just donate it to me.
That's just stupid, just buy a used compressor and have it installed for about $100 or maybe just do it yourself.

What do the non ac cars look like? Do they use an idler pulley or just no ac compressor and a shorter belt. If you're really cheap just go that route and no more ac to worry about. Then sell it quick before summer and someone notices

It's your car do what you want. Did you even read any of the other posts ?????????????????????????????????????????????

I find it kinda ridinckulous you come on here looking for help, get answers on what the problem is. Even where to buy the parts for next to nothing. Then just say you're giving it away in the end. There are people on here including myself who'd be willing to walk you through how to fix your car.
It sounds like you took your car to the dealer to get work done that wasn't covered by warranty.
Just a heads up that's not a very wise financial decision. But neither is giving a car away and getting 1/3 it's value for a tax deduction!

I see you are an Uber driver, and that this is your second Mirage. Uber gig work would put a lot of miles on a car, and the condition of the car means a lot in that world.

Still, I'm sure there's a better option than just giving it away. How's the starter on it? Maybe dspace9 would be interested in it.
