    New tire option in 165/65-14!

I have started seeing the Continental ContiEcoContact 5 being offered for sale at certain online tire retailers in 165/65-14. These are obviously a LRR tire, and are about 2/3 the price of a stock Dunlop Enasave. I'd say $250 is pretty reasonable for a quality set of LRR tires in our proper odd size from a well-known manufacturer.

Not sure about how this particular tire performs, but I trust Continental more than "Landsail" or "Zeetex" or "Farroad" or "Aplus", which are offered on this same site for only a few dollars more! If I didn't have a new set of Federal Super Steels and an 80% set of take-off Enasaves sitting in my garage already I might order some.

Sweet. It's about time Continental got in this market. I'm sure this was available overseas.

    Fantastic find, CobraJet! Thanks!

I was going to go with the Walmart Federals but not anymore!

BTW I am still on the stock Enasaves after 16k miles. So far i have only gotten one flat tyre (rear passenger side) and I repaired it with a plug.

They need to update the tire specs. I wonder what the expected treadlife on these is?

I had mentioned these tires a little over a month ago in a thread that Daox started on factory size LRR tires.

If LRR is one your primary objectives, these may a great alternative to the 165/65-14 Dunlop & Bridgestone LRR tires. It would be nice to hear from someone using these tires (here in the U.S. or elsewhere), & get their take on them.

Federal tires are sold by a number of tire distributors. Walmart has them listed for $41.07 with free shipping tonight. I have not seen them at that low of a price before. Walmart's price on these tires really fluctuate.

I noticed White Bear Mitsubishi was offering their customers 165/65-14 KUMHO SOLUS TA31 tires quite some time ago. At the time, I really couldn't find them being sold by anyone else in factory size.

I just noticed they have now appeared on simpletire.com.

    https://simpletire.com/kumho-p165-65...3-tires?type=1

At approximately $63/tire, the Kumho may be a good mid-price option that comes with a 60,000 mile warranty.

I like the fact that Federal, Nexen, Vredestein, Nokian, & Kumho are offering 165/65-14 tire options in the States. A person has more factory 165/65-14 size options to pick from (beyond just Dunlop & Bridgestone) now.
