    Suzuki SX4

I saw one of these parked next to the Mirage yesterday. Thry look to be almost identical in size to the Mirage. And even the look was similar in person.
    Didnt those have awd?

Just never hear anything about them but awd in a mirage sized car would be cool

Yeah they're awd, don't get very good economy compared to a fwd as a result. I'd try one out for a minute. Awd would be nice to have this winter.

I always thought they looked tall and awkward... but I think the same thing about the Mirage. I didn't buy it for looks.

The proportions are similar, but the SX4 is more than a foot longer, 3" wider and taller, and 750lb heavier. It's closer to the Toyota Matrix in size, efficiency, and target customer.

I just Googled it. There was only one generation sold in North America. Actually, looking at Wikipedia now, it says the Mirage (hatch) is 146" long. SX4 hatch was 163" long, and the sedan was 177". So the difference is actually 17".

The Mirage is deceptive. After all, it is a Mirage.

I really like the idea of the SX4. Its a smallish AWD hatch with 150 hp. Sounds fun and even practical.

However, when you start digging it becomes more disappointing. MPG is very disappointing vs the Mirage. It is rated at only 22 city and 28 highway for the manual trans vs the Mirage's 33/41. The weight issue also saps a lot of fun from the 150 hp. Google says it weighs in at 2,748 to 2,990 lbs. That is about 1.5 Mirages heavier! Finally, we come to the looks. Its all subjective, but I like the way the Mirage looks for the most part. The SX4 looks like it just wants to be a SUV soooo bad... and I don't like the SUV look. Ripping the roof racks off definitely helps a lot though.

    Looks familiar...:

Nostalgic Subcompact: Tall wagon triplets—Mitsubishi Expo LRV, Eagle Summit Wagon, and Plymouth Colt Vista

I even ran a Web site called the "Mitsubishi Expo LRV Pages," which included a gallery and forum for this vehicle.

    The Tall Wagon
When released to the U.S. market in 1992, the Mitsubishi Expo LRV, Eagle Summit Wagon, and Plymouth Colt Vista triplets were pretty unique to the U.S. market, and were closest to a class of vehicle that included cars such as the Nissan Stanza Wagon, the Dodge Colt Vista, the Honda Civic Wagon, and the hard-to-remember Nissan Axxes. However, other than the Axxes, the previous tall wagons had ceased to exist in the U.S. This bodystyle was (and is) popular in other parts of the world, and was sold as the Mitsubishi RVR (Recreational Vehicle Runner) and Space Runner elsewhere. It seemed tall wagons weren't popular in U.S. market, but Mitsubishi was going to give it a go one more time.

All three vehicles were about the same size as a first-generation Scion xB, but featured a sliding side door like a mini van instead of four traditional doors. Under the Mitsubishi brand, there was also the Mitsubishi Expo (no "LRV," just Expo), which was a bigger version with four doors.
