That sounds unfun. I still would have traded you seats if you didn't want the armrest. I want one for my car.

Congrats. Now you get to make a Garage entry. Look to the left-hand column of your post - under your name - for a link to get started.

Congrats!! Looks like you bought the CVT after all. Considerations aside from fuel economy in your decision?

Yaaaaaaaaay! You done good amigo! CVT! CVT! CVT! CVT wins out again folks. Sticks shifts are cool, but there is a special pride knowing you drive the only proven vehicle that can hit 150k miles with a Jatco CVT transmission. I actually do a Buddhist prayer chant on my yoga mat, in the parking lot, in front of my CVT every morning, begging the trans axle god of good fuel consumption to get me to work. So far so good man!

I went with the CVT mostly for fuel consumption, but also because I'm getting older and wanted the ease of an automatic.
During my several test drives, It seemed to have plenty of power on hills and the revs stay low so I liked it. The MPG's seem to match or best my 2003 Echo so I'm happy with the performance there as well.

It has the 10/100 on the trans so hopefully if it does go bad it's in that time frame. If not, I hope that by then the cost of a trans will have gone down... A lot!
I still can't get over why some of these car reviews bash this little ride. It's decked out compared to my Echo, and rides really nice.

You did good. If you read what some of the experts have said on here like Fummins, if your going to drive a CVT the Mirage is the best design for it in terms of reliability. I myself bought a used one with 45k miles on it and only 3 months of warranty left on it so Im walking a fine line. BUT I feel alot better about it than say if I was in the same situation but driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra.

Nice I just got the 5/10 and the 5 part is gone now-- Canada has the 10/10 warranty promo now too. You made a wise decision with the CVT, pains me to admit it being a 5 speed manual Mirage owner. But my Mirage stalls out easy at low speeds, happened not once but twice recently.

It's just annoying in the city, especially same with me as you get older. The appeal of 3 petal 2 hand driving gets old... so I think you made a wise choice from your Echo's manual to Mirage auto.

**also I paid $12,495 for my Mirage new in 2014, at the dealer, they wouldn't budge with price either.

Well, That 10/100 sure did help me decide on the CVT model. I put about 8K a year on my Echo so I should get the full 10 years out of the warranty.

I really like the car so far, it's WAY nicer than the old Echo, and has all the bells and whistles that most modern cars have. I've ordered the universal center console that I heard about here and also ordered a set of front and rear mud-flaps to help protect the paint.
I'm hoping to reuse the all weather rubber floormats from my Echo in the new ride, but I'm not sure they will fit.

Lastly I've ordered a case of rustolium undercoating to help seal this car from the salt that is used here in the winter months. I was surprised to see that it has no undercoating on it from the factory, but since I've never owned a new car, this may be normal.

Anyway 502 miles into ownership I'm really digging my sporty looking new red Mirage!
