    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

Hi All, I just bought a 2014 Mirage, good little car in overall but there seem to be something wrong when I fill up the gas tank. I only get 360 km (223miles) at full tank. I thought that the car could have an autonomy of 500Km+ at full tank. Is this its max fuel capacity range? or is my fuel gauge bad or something?

    Thanks in advance

Hello unplugged81 and welcome to the forum.

What's your calculated fuel consumption? Not what your Multi Instrument Display shows, but what you calculate in liters v. kilometers.

As Egg said, you will have to math out your mileage to know for sure what is going on. Keep in mind that low winter temperatures will make your mileage go way down.

Your distance to empty is based on fuel consumption since the last reset. So if your average consumption is unusually high shortly after filling up (eg. Lots of idling, or bad city traffic), the range estimate will reflect that.

If you then start doing more normal / fuel efficient driving and your average consumption improves, the distance to empty will be recalculated and can increase.

But as Cobrajet says, this is just about the worst time of year for good fuel consumption.

Thanks for the reply guys! I thought that by default the car could tell me the max distance autonomy by filling up the gas tank like other cars, anyhow I will calculate my fuel consumption but I don't think that the cold weather will help get the best fuel mileage. I will keep an update on my fuel mileage consumption.
    Thanks again!

Using the "A" fuel economy setting will not give you an accurate reading because it resets itself to "Zero" after about 4 hrs of the vehicle not running. Use the "B" setting. This setting does not reset until you manually reset it. Many forum members don't ever reset it so you have a lifetime economy reading. This thread might be particularly useful:
