new one is $5k from Mitsubishi plus labor. Outsourcing a used one is an option.

By paper filter you mean the CVT auxiliary paper filter? How much that cost?

Ive scoured the internet and I of yet seen a percentage chart for premature CVT failure for Mitsubishi or Nissan? Just anecdotal opinions.

    Yes, I realize that's only ~2,000 miles.

~102000km here, so roughly 63k miles.
No issues with the CVT, maintenance done according to Mitsubishi service plan (every 20k km).
CVT oils changed once at 80k km, no filters.

Edit: Our car is -14 model which is registered in 2015.

I would just buy a cheap used one for 1500 bucks and have the mechanic throw it in, buying new is insane

I mostly agree, except you have no idea how the used one was maintained/serviced. I guess buy used with low mileage and hope for the best!

Mitsubishi parts warehouse website doesnt even have the CVT7 for sale anymore, its discontinued. Do you think Mitsubishi will extend warranties on the CVT like Nissan did?

How does that work? Ive been to the car-parts.com site, do I call the junkyard where its listed and ask them to pull it off for me and then ship it to a mechanic or transmission specialist?

I have a 2017 G4 sedan. I did a full service myself at 30,000 miles at home. Changed the CVT fluid and filter, dropped the pan and cleaned the pickup screen and two magnets. Refilled with Amsoil synthetic hi-temp CVT fluid (cheaper than Mitsubishi fluid). No problems, runs perfect.
I live in Vegas so 110-112 degrees Fahrenheit on some days. Number one killer for CVT is heat.

I'm at almost 50,000 miles so getting ready for another service at 60,000 miles.
