    Too much oil in cvt

    Hi friends,
    I have a Mitsubishi Mirage 2015 cvt.
I did an oil check for my car after a garage treatment.
And in the cold and hot test, there is too much oil.
    Could it hurt the gearbox?
And does it make sense that I feel that the cvt is pulling gears?
    Thanks🙂

Yes, too much fluid can lead to bubbles and frothiness, both not good.

If the pulling gears feels like a rubber band stretch feel, yes, that's normal.

I would recommend taking out the excess fluid. You can buy a cheap siphon pump at Harbor Freight. It should be able to remove the fluid from the filler tube. It's worth a shot.

I don't think they have Harbor Freight in Spain... But a siphon pump is a good idea.

Oops. I didn't notice that he was from Spain. I'm pretty sure he won't find a Harbor Freight there. I have had success with using a siphon pump to remove excess transmission fluid. Hopefully, he can find one for a cheap price in his country.

The Harbor Freight link is a good reference, whether there is a store there or not.

Surely you're using a scan tool that shows cvt fluid temp and checking the level according to the proper specs? How did it get over filled? Cvt's don't usually produce fluid on there own.

The quick and cheap way is to just pull the drain plug and put it back. Yes you'll get dirty. No you don't need a new drain plug gasket.

This. Make ABSOLUTELY SURE that the transmission really is overfilled before you start pulling fluid out. Firstly, because too little fluid will cause all sorts of problems. And, secondly, because the fluid is expensive if you have to put it back in. You didn't mention how much extra fluid there is. A couple ounces likely won't hurt anything. An extra quart is a disaster waiting to happen.

Be sure you are checking it on a surface that is completely flat and level.
