My username is just a joke!

Really, I AM interested in buying a used Mirage to replace my 01 Corolla.
Had a one liter Geo Metro for 18 years--awesome car. Burned in fire.
Have had Corolla a couple months. Am addressing some of its issues.
If I can whittle the oil consumption down--clogged PCV and two oil leaks
being addressed--I will likely keep it. Almost every hatchback and little car I look
at has oil consumption issues in its history--at least some years of production.
I think the key is to buy a car with very few miles on it, before anybody can
ignore its oil changes. My problem with that is low-mileage cars are the
expensive ones. So now I am thinking the Mirage. I have yet to see a real
oil consumption issue--well except for the one with valve seals as the suspect.
So here I am, out to see if I could buy a moderate mileage Mirage and not suffer.
Again, it is a Plan B in case my Corolla is incurable.
Thanks for having me. The username is just a joke. Really!

Welcome! There are a lot of "Geo Metro refugees" here, so if you had a Metro and liked it then you will like the Mirage. My Mirage replaced a '97 Metro 1.0 back in late 2014.

It had 261,000 miles when I finally let it go to a new home. I replaced nearly everything from 149,000 miles (when I got it) to 261,000 miles, and by then it was time to do it all over again. Decided to upgrade, and I am glad I did.

Welcome to the site. I'll ditto CobraJet's words.

I've had really good luck with my 2014 Mirage, and I got it used with 78k miles on it though.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

Yup, there are lots of Metro aficionados around here:
Thread: Geo Metro roll call: did you own a 3 cyl car before Mirage? (Suzuki, Smart, etc)

Keep us posted on your decision-making. Lots of folks around here willing to answer any questions you might have about the Mirage.
