What do you guys think about the 2020 Supra?

In case you didn't know, Toyota is bringing back the Supra in 2020. They just debuted it at the Detroit Auto Show not too long ago.

If you look at the 2020 Supra vs the 1993 Supra (1st year of the last generation Supra), they look pretty darn similar.

Of course, there is the part about how this Supra is mostly a BMW Z4...

So, while many people probably aren't thrilled with that. Isn't a BMW Supra better than no Supra?

I do wish Toyota would use their own engines in their own cars though... *cough*86*cough*

Anyway, I think it looks pretty darn nice. Not a super fan of the rear end. Its a little busy for me, but it could be a lot worse... again, no Supra.

    Meh about the new one.

I'd rather see a new MR2 - more affordable, more fun. (Ever driven a mid-engine car - handling is a riot!)

    My favourite Supra was:

A lady in my neighbourhood had one just like this when I was a kid. 5-speed, too!

I like the SFR concept, but they would probably charge 30-40K for it so forget about it. Cars cost too much.

Why would you go through all that trouble and make a sports car like that & not offer it with a manual transmission? The only reason I would own a car like that would be for the driving experience. I'm sorry, but I find cars without manual transmissions extremely boring to drive. I'd rather pay half the price of the Supra & buy a Mazda Miata with a manual transmission.

I don't see guys trading in their Ford F150 pickups for one of these. Toyota Supra sales were under 1,500 cars/year its last three years on the market in the late 1990's. What has changed to make anyone think that would be any better now?

I think Toyota is wasting their time & energy on this car, but it may make a few former Supra owners happy!

Even back in 1998 (last year of the Supra = 1232 cars), the Miata (19,845 cars) was selling over 16 times more cars. Thus, I am not only person who looks at these two cars this way.

Most former or current Supra owners I see on various boards think this BMW eurotrash is a joke. Myself included. I understand having platform sharing and what not but come on... Pathetic.

Really really looks like a funny offspring of a Toyota 86/Scion meets a Z3 or even M BMW Roadster. Not everyone's taste for sure, the doors look Japanese but the grill looks Alfa Romeo. To each their own, but a turbo i-6 would bust with a manual tranny lol

*roadster I mean coupe, the '99 M Coupe meets a Scion who would have guessed

I'm surprised Toyota puts their name & badge on vehicles built by others. I guess there's less risk than building another manufacturing / assembly plant.

I am guess I am not a fan of 'label-slapping' for the sake of nostalgia. If this car is basically a BMW Z4 wearing a different suit, then why not just buy a Z4?

Buying a Toyota with a BMW badge is one one thing. But why buy a BMW with a Toyota badge on it when the same BMW is the same price???

That RX8.....I mean supra is a flop. Its ugly and it's not even a Toyota.

And in 27 years it loses 5mph, has a lower redline, barely beats it in weight,
And power. It does have 50/50 distribution but that's it. No thanks.
