Technically speaking... The hazards/turn signals are still operated by a relay, but it's probably a solid state relay that's driven by ETACS timing the flash, not a thermal cutout.

I believe the Mirage still uses the thermal type relay causing hyperflashing when I put in those LED turn signal lights with no load resistor. If it is SSR, where does the clicking sound come from?
I don't want to use a load resistor because of the heat produced. I am looking forward to finding a solid-state relay that is compatible with the stock relay.

it looks like I'm out of luck.. I'll have to use load resistor after all, rather than altering the electricals and insert a MOSFET relay.
What I had in mind was this.

Your owners manual indicates that there is a way to "change the tone of the turn signal buzzer". This is in section 5 around page 5-76 under the Turn Signal Lever section. Apparently the dealer has to change something to do it but maybe they can make it louder?
It is possible to modify functions as follows: •Deactivate the turn signal light 3-flash function for lane changes. •Adjust the time required to operate the lever for the 3-flash function. •Changing of the tone of a sounding buzzer as the turn signal lights flash.
See your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for details.

The 'click' comes from somewhere in the cluster itself, as does the key-on-engine-off chime.
