I just bought a mirage for my family as a second car. We have a Prius v which turn relay is soldered in the cluster board, I had to install a variable resistor for the flasher (note, resistor for the flasher ,not bulbs) to fool it.

Has anyone verified if the flasher chip is in the cluster?

Hello ozjimjam and welcome to the forum.

I can't say for certain but I'm pretty sure the flasher function is part of ETACS.

    I understand upgrading dome lights.

I do not understand upgrading turn signals.
I hate it when turn signals are so close to the headlights that they are hard to see...Mirage turn signals aren't too bad, but could be better.
If LEDs draw less power, emergency flashers will last longer, and when the emergency is over, the battery is more likely to start the car.

    hi, thanks : )

you are right, looking at the diagram, turn signals go to ETACS ECU. We will take a deeper look sometimes this week. I hope it is easy one to modify (through using the ETACS software program or some soldering )

    By the way,
Unlike the Prius v, which the flasher chip (BTS5240) is in the cluster independently by itself :

the flasher chip and the factory resistor.

there is the additional variable resistor we added here to fool the flasher chip to take the LED bulb

Nice work! You must have more patience and a much steadier hand than me.

    Agree 100%

This is a serious safety issue with some headlight cluster designs, where headlights and/or DRL's completely wash out the turn signal bulb (usually because they're just too close together). I'm surprised it's not regulated - it should be.

Dodge had kind of a good idea shutting off the headlight on whatever side signal light is lit up from around 2006ish. Makes it easier to see for sure.
