I don't know from what they are doing engines in XXI century, but this is what I saw after 7.000 km from last oil change.
Today I have 52.000 km total and my driving style - like old man over 70 years.

These engines usually last very long.
I bought a magnetic drain plug for the oil pan, but it it has caught practically nothing in years.

I find that image of your oil after 7000 kms with those *grit pieces* a bit worrying.
And also that oil looks pretty dark, but mine does too, from the dipstick, after 7000 kms, and just before an oil change. My oil is new right now, and it looks light light brown.
My Mirage's motor purrs pretty good and has 110,000 km's on it right now, and I'm pretty sure Mitsubishi has been making this 3 cylinder engine for more than 10 years, and dates from the then ongoing Daimler-Chrysler Mitsubishi experiment in the early XXI's.

When you do your next service, take a sample & have a used oil analysis done on it. That will tell you what the material is & you can plan you course of action from there...

We have a forum member who has 240,000+ miles on his 2014 Mirage. He has received 48 free oil changes from the dealership he purchased the car from. They change his oil (conventional 5W-30) every 5,000 miles, & he has zero issues.
Those of us who are using a good quality synthetic oil and oil filters should be good!
Yep. I've got zero issues, but honestly I could have crap in my engine oil and not even know it. I've never done an oil change on the mirage, so I've no clue what the stuff looks like when it comes out of the engine.
I will say this though. My car doesn't burn oil and it doesn't leak oil. I checked it before an oil change 10 or so thousand miles ago and the oil level on the dipstick was perfect. The oil wasn't even really that dark.
Just eliminating the obvious: dirt in container pre-oil change, or dirt off the drain pan? Otherwise, I'd be concerned...
If you want to be sure, do as klroger suggested and get an oil analysis done. It'll tell if there is any issue at all.
