Hello cetman91. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase of your Mirage.
There's lots of former 3 cylinder owners here, mostly from the Chevy Metro.
What problems are you having with Hill Start Assist? (I presume that is what you mean by HSA.)

Welcome aboard!
Howdy, neighbor! Headed to Port Orchard later today to visit my dad at Retsil.
I have a 14 manual Mirage hatch, and I don't think I have Hill Start Assist (HSA). My Mirage rolls right back when you step on the clutch on an incline.
Not the easiest car in heavy traffic areas, or where people get right on your back bumper impatiently, or low speed stop-go traffic and you're in the middle of it.
I guess then from your experience w the HSA equipped manual G4, it's better not to have been computerized or assisted on hills, Mirage just does what it does.

Welcome! I don't remember seeing to many Chevy Sprints, but it must have been the forerunner to the more popular Geo Metro that came afterwards. Suzuki was a major player in the GM small car line up years ago.
Personally, Suzuki is the one car company that I wish hadn't left the United States. Not only is the new Jimny creating quite a stir, but they have some other interesting small car models. I was looking at what is offered in the UK the other day, & I was intrigued by the Suzuki offerings.

Welcome to the forum!
I've only tried one car with hill start assist, and it was decades ago... on a Subaru.
I seem to recall it was a clever analog system that used a little ball bearing in the hydraulic brake system that rolled into place when on a grade and acted like a check valve. I test drove the car just to try that feature!

I had a 1982 Subaru GLF back in the day. I loved this car because it was one of the last true "pillarless hardtop coupes" sold here. It had hill start assist, which they actually called the "Hill Holder". It was a sort of cable-and-lever setup which closed a separate valve plumbed into the brake system when the clutch pedal was depressed. This had the effect of momentarily holding brake line pressure after the brake pedal was released, then releasing that pressure when the clutch pedal was let out and the valve was opened again.
There was also something which prevented the system from engaging on a flat (or nearly flat) surface. I had that car at least 20 years ago. IIRC, I kinda liked the Hill Holder!
