    I've had no problems with 80+ mph. Lowered and with touring tires. My front is a little more cambered though thanks to the coilovers.

    I think I started this thread because on a good day my totally stock Mirage is fine-ish around 80 mph. Though I'm not 100% sure, because it's dangerous. A comparable year Lancer holds any freeway better, I know this first hand from a week long rental experience.

    Say what you want, my Mirage is a small fish, with lots of bigger fish (and trees etc) near you at those speeds is no good, so autobahn speeds ok if nobody is around, still there are deer.

    Somewhat unrelated but..why when I am travelling out West in a few weeks to the Canadian Rockies, I wasn't upset in the least when their airport Thrifty upgraded me, on the house from economy car to RAV4 equivalent small SUV. Remote Rockies solo.. I don't know maybe better in a truck lol.

    Why not also, besides $1.69/L Canadian gas prices out West!?! And it's remote so I believe 10% or more anyway

    I agree. These little cars shake with crosswinds, especially over 75 mph. I just had a Mitsu dealership check my alignment then went on a 700 mile road trip a day later. The Mirage did just fine and I kept it at 80 mph 80% of the drive. Did the 3 banger shake my car a bit? Sure, but the crosswinds contributed much of that IMO. One ton car is going to shake some on the highway going over 70. My old 89 Civic did the same thing. And my 2001 Miata. Perfectly normal.

    Hard to believe the Mirage'll go that fast. I wouldn't. What's the RPM reading at that speed?

    3000rpm at 60, /60X140 is 7000rpm.

    Which is the joke. Not, uh, doable since the Mirage kicks you out at 6500, and last time I checked they start wheezing pretty good by 170.

    I maxed out my 97 Metro last year at 95 mph. Assuming my aeromods negated any possible engine wear present(still had great compression) and that a mirage has the same CDa:

    952 = 9025
    Divide that by 55 and you get 164.09 abstract power points per hp

    1402 = 19600
    Needing 119.4 horsepower to go 140...

    Sorry 140 is too unbelievable, still with 74 horsepower a Mirage could go 110 if this is correct though .

    Huh? I don't even think the Mirage can go that fast.

    It can if you are going down a mountain. The additional problem people on this forum keep forgetting to think about is brakes.

    Our cars have sissy brakes, along with a sissy engine. If you are going to drive the crazy speeds people on here are suggesting, you better damn well have upgraded brakes strong enough to stop the car.
