Thread: @Top_Fuel, question about refuelling (How are you often adding 31L to a ~28L tank?)

My tank goes from a less than half full, to 3/8 full, to almost empty within like 100 km's. I wouldn't be timing the reserve, it makes no sense to drain the gas tank like that, dries out the fuel pump.

Fill from empty whenever possible, is what the owner's manual says. But not bone dry empty, using the trip computer. The reward is none in that gamble, and the bad straw pulled in that game, is being on the side of the freeway, or worse.

No, other members have tracked their fuel mileage with mid-grade and premium. No difference in mpg’s. Just buy top-tier fuel and maybe dump a bottle of Techron or some other reputable injector cleaner every 50k or so.

No. I recommend top tier fuels such as Shell, Exon/Mobile, Chevron, Costco, etc using 87 octane fuel.

Circle K isn't a brand of fuel. Circle K is the name of a convenience store chain that sells several different brands depending on the Circle K you are at.

And like someone else said, pour a bottle of Techron in your tank from time to time. I do a Techron treatment roughly every 7,500 miles.

And the owner's manual is wrong.

The owner's manual also tells you to do valve adjustments on our little engines, yet doing so is physically impossible given the engine design.

Do you really think Mitsubishi wants our fuel pumps to last any longer than 100k miles?

I would hope Mitsubishi values its reputation of reliability enough to expect its fuel pumps to last 100k miles? Am I missing something here? A conspiracy to make less reliable parts in order to have the consumer purchase more cars in the future, at a higher frequency? Devious.

Each bar represents a gallon, 8 bars, plus 9th flashing bar your last gallon, flashing gas icon perhaps your last 0.2 of fuel? Not sure.

No, when its flashing it still has at least 1.5 gallons! I've only filled up a couple times when it was flashing and I still only put 7 some gallons in. I've never once put even 8gal in.
