I cross-shopped the Spark when I was looking at the Mirage in late 2014, and did some research on the Spark Forums. They were very depressing places, mostly filled with stories of various problems with the car, tales of surly dealership service managers, and corporate customer service problem-solvers who pretended to care but didn't. I don't remember much, but I do remember one thread title:

"Does anyone actually LIKE their Spark?"

It is my understanding that the 2013-2015 Sparks are much different in terms of problems/reliability than the 2016-up cars. I like the looks of either generation of Mirage more than I like the styling of the first-gen Spark, but I like the looks of the newer Spark better than either generation of the Mirage.

The Fit is a great car, but it is in another class. Prices on base model Fits start about where the price on a fully loaded Mirage tops out.

95 to 05 is probably the period with the most reliable vehicles.

That Fit Freak thread hasn't had a new post for five years.

The Mirage - and especially the Mirage Forum - tends to draw a certain crowd. As Mark said, it works for us and we don't much worry what others think. There's a confidence that deliberation is over, the decision has been made and there is no longer need for debate.

We also recognize that the Mirage isn't for everyone, and that's okay too.

I feel sorry for those that purchased a car (any car) that doesn't work out for one reason or another. The most tortured hold on to the car and constantly complain about it rather than enjoy it for what it is.

Im thinking we all line up our Mirages on the famous Utah salt flats against their Chevy Sparks formation a mile apart and then we charge each other Mad Max style! Welcome to the Thunder Dome! Hopefully someone on here can show how to do a giant crossbow mod to install on the top of our Mirages?

I tried to view the spark forum and it wouldnt load. Sounds like their forum is as reliable as their car.

New thread question. If the apocalyptic future of low gas, low resources such as the Mad Max universe were to happen, how would you modify your Mirage for survival?
