I was coming here to write this exact thing.

In 96, I was moving and had to get rid of the car. I literally offered to give it to whomever would be willing to assume my apartment lease for the summer. No takers. I couldn't give it away. But the salvage yard gave me a couple hundred for it.

Way back when, my mom leased a new 1987 Mitsu Colt. I have no clue what engine size it had, but it was definitely a 4cyl with a 3-spd auto. I remember that much. White exterior with burgundy velour interior. 2-door hatchback (or 3-door hatchback, if you prefer). Excellent little car for the 3yrs she had it. I don't remember of it having any problems, except for the pack of Crayola crayons that I left on the rear parcel. They melted into a little gay rainbow. When she rides in my 2014 Mirage, she sometimes remarks about how it reminds her of that '87 Colt.

I owned a 2001 ES model a couple of years ago. I bought it for $1900, put about $400 into it (new brakes and new front wheel bearings), drove it for about 12,000 miles over a period of 3 months, then sold it for $2,000!

I had this car SERIOUSLY loaded down for 10,000 miles while I traveled with work.

I got pulled over in Florida on I-10 because the state trooper thought I was running drugs (out of state plates, dark tinted windows, obviously loaded down as the rear suspension was squatting). At least the guy had a good attitude, especially after I volunteered to open the boxes, show him the paperwork, and basically prove to him what I was doing out there. I had taken the wheel covers off in order to stay low key and try to prevent breakins.

    I miss that car.

I drive a Lancer c10 body style, you can see it in my garage. I have no problems with it at all. It weighs about the same as the mirage/attrage and has 74 hp with a manual it feels just fine. However after driving the Attrage and jumping in my Lancer my left foot feels weird because of the clutch being so light in the Attrage.

My father owned a Mitsubishi Lancer 1200L (1978 model) just as I got my drivers license. So I drove a lot in that one. Good memories.

In the USA it was called Dodge Colt http://www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-co...-78-Colt.2.jpg

My wife use to own a four door Mirage sedan back in the mid nineties. She now has a 2014 ES CVT for her work commute car.

I sold cars from 1990 to 2000 at a Jeep / Eagle dealership. The Eagle Summit was a rebranded Mitsubishi Mirage. I never owned one but I drove them regularly and thought they were fun to drive! I remember that in 1992 the 3 door Summit with a stick shift and no AC had a list price of $6,995 USD and was less than $10,000 USD with popular options!

I think my favorite was the Eagle Summit Wagon. It was like a micro mini van with sliding doors in back. It had a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder and was available with a stick. That combination was a hoot! I would love to find one today and make a sleeper out of it!

70USD - the above sounds awesome. I still remember studying the 1988 Ford Festiva (built by Kia) and Chevy Sprint and really wanting one for my own. I had (really) old cars - 60's - 70's - until I bought a used 1986 Mercury Lynx station wagon in the fall of 1989. Not really a good car overall. Traded that in in the spring of 1994 for a 1994 Ford Escort wagon. Enjoyed that wagon, it did have a faulty exhaust manifold that was replaced under warranty. Traded that car in for a 1997 Ford Escort sedan and in 1999 traded that car in on a '99 Kia Sephia sedan. That was my first import and it was traded for a 2001 Kia Sportage 4X4 in September of 2001. Kept that SUV (and loved it, too) until trading it for a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS in March of 2007. That was a nice compact sedan - sporty sedan that was half the price of a European sports sedan but looked better and rode like one. Traded the Lancer GTS in in July of 2014 for my current ride, a 2011 Kia Soul base in clear white and 5-speed tranny. The Soul had 35,685 miles on it and now has 60,422, so, no real need ta trade in quite yet.

I'm on here studying the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage and G4 - and really having fun doing it. Even looking at the 2016 Chevy Spark, it's made by Chevy Daewoo and so far it looks pretty solid, with up-ta-date electronics on-board, including OnStar for 5 years and Android Auto - btw - the 2017 Mirage and G4 have Andoid Auto, too -the Spark is selling for $13,535 and yes - it is a direct competitor of the Mitsubishi Mirage. Oh well - more choices is a good thing!

In 1987, my parents bought a Dodge Colt Vista wagon. Looked just exactly like this one...2WD, gray/silver two-tone, automatic, roof rack.

My dad purchased it for my mother to haul me, my little brother, and my little sister around. Dad hated it, and disparagingly called it 'The Econobox'. I was only 13 at the time, and I remember it having the most uncomfortable seats I had ever sat on.

I remember being at the Chrysler/Mitsubishi dealership when they bought it, and there was a brand new Chrysler Conquest TSi sitting in the showroom. I begged my dad to buy it instead of the Vista, and he remarked to me that, "You'd have to ride in the trunk if I bought that!"

I said, in true 13-year-old boy fashion, "You've got a deal, dadl! I will ride in the trunk!"

The Vista proved to be unpopular with the entire family, and was replaced with a brand new '88 Toyota Camry DX shortly thereafter.
