    2024 mirage high fuel consumption.

Hi guys i bought a 2024 mirage ES in Canada in october. i noticed it seems to not be performing according to the stated fuel consumption not even close.
the following is what i have measured with 1st click at the pump.
    Consumption :
    • 10 Dec 2023 107.9 km 11.50 litres =10.65/l100km
    • 16 Dec 117.2 km /12.07 L= 10.31L/100km

i only have 1800 km on the clock am i concerned over nothing should this improve over time ?

That's odd. Do you idle it a lot or drive around in DS or B mode only? I've only gotten worse mileage than that after siphoning half the fuel out and then idling it for 1/2 a day.

During my 6+ years of Mirage ownership, I have never seen anything outside of 4.7 - 6.2 L/100km.

I might expect to see 10.5 L/100km from my 2011 Subaru Forester during the winter months.

    Something seems really off?

Our gas nozzles typically have 2-3 settings. When my gas hose clicks off on the high setting, I let it continue until it clicks off on the low setting a 2nd time. At the higher flow rate, it tends to click off prematurely sometimes. Just throwing out thoughts, but something seems very wrong with your economy numbers unless you were driving up a mountain road with the parking brake on.

The neighbor is coming over after dark & siphoning fuel for his Dodge Ram...Where & how do you drive??? All short trips in town??? Seriously, if your not sitting & idling all day & do highway driving ( you don't have a remote start that starts if the engine gets too cold, do you???) & the engine runs fine, I'd head to the dealer, you may have a leak somewhere???
I didn't know what to do, so I didn't do anything

If I fill up, then do a ton of little trips around town, with a bit of idling to clear the windshield when it's cold, I get similar numbers. But as soon as I do any highway driving, it improves dramatically

Take advantage of your warranty and go to a dealer, this is not normal and wont get any better unless its user error.

Hi Guys thanks for the replies, i have seen a slight reduction in consumption closer to 7-8L/100 , my driving varies long trip over mountain Kamloops to Merritt about 80 km and back and forth to work which is 9km.
    freeway speed 105-115.

i have seen somewhere where someone said his consumption only improved after 5000 or so km i am currently on 2500.km

Yeah, I don't know if you'll get 40+mpg driving on the Coquihalla, at least not in the winter. Kamloops and Merrit aren't very flat either. I think you'll get noticeably better mileage once it warms up. Are you running winter tires or just carrying chains around?
